Conveying and accumulation

Define how product waits and how it leaves.

Where to begin

A conveyor transports an item; a buffer gives the next process time to recover. Those roles need separate acceptance criteria. Cases before the robot and loaded pallets after it impose different support, transfer and control requirements. Establish the allowable contact between items before selecting an accumulation method.

The conveyor guide provides a buffer calculation and a boundary-by-boundary acceptance record for the palletizing handoff.

Choose the question you need to answer

Use Palletizing Conveyors: Accumulation and Handoff Interfaces to separate transport, waiting capacity and release control.

For 24V and 48V motor-driven roller zone sizing, dynamic braking stopping distance, and singulation versus cascaded slug release throughput, use the zero pressure accumulation conveyor photoeye zones and MDR release guide.

For a change of level, use the spiral conveyor elevation, footprint and infeed guide to reserve the full installation envelope and define transfer spacing and blocked-outfeed recovery.

What to carry into an equipment or material review

Bring the actual package identifiers, the previous accepted condition and a record of the failure or change you are investigating. Label unmeasured values as unknown. Ask the responsible supplier to connect each proposed setting to the specific equipment and material combination.
